You must know that I’m not oblivious
to the fact that I should’ve embraced love.
Far too often my actions were frivolous,
dodging commitment’s push and shove.
You must know I stamped myself a player,
slipperier than the proverbial eel.
If, to entanglement, I hadn’t been a naysayer
I would have known how romance should feel.
You must know that loneliness colors my days
because the ladies reacted to my aversion.
If only I could have altered my singular ways
there’d be a booking on the couples excursion.
