Emotional Lookback
I often read mesmerizing poems
of undeniable romance
that flames mightily and devours
with insatiable hunger.
Subtle yet insistent reminders of the
maddening courting dance
but knowing there’s no chance
it’ll sweep me back to the feelings
of being younger.
