No Blues for Christmas

Our old car needs new registration
since we moved from the other state.
The poor thing must pass a roadworthy test,
all due, December Twenty Eight.

We fitted new shock absorbers,
new CV joints cost us a mint,
phone bill must be paid tomorrow;
it's coming up Christmas...we're skint!

There will be no big spread on the table,
our chicken will do us two meals;
we can't buy each other a present
but each knows how the other one feels.

They're just 'things' without which we'll manage;
one can worship our King in a stable.
He doesn't judge us by how rich we are
or the good 'stuff' we have on our table.

We've not many worldly possessions
but that which we have we can share.
If you have hunger for chicken,
you are welcome, come in...take a chair.
