Remember The Seniors
Silver and gold cannot make them happy today,
If they're alone with no friends coming their way.
Memories of Christmas sometimes make them blue,
Then a blue Christmas will make it's way anew.
Is there a senior whom you respect and adore,
Maybe a relative, friend, or neighbor next door?
If so let them know you care and you understand,
Perhaps some way you can lend a helping hand.
They feel they are hanging on by a thread,
Some times getting out of bed they dread.
Thankful to be alive and still able to go,
Not a long time left here, this they know.
Senior citizens have come a long way,
Seen many many changes every day.
Adjusted to bouts of troubled storms,
Kept wishing for lots of new reforms.
Rode the rising tides of loss and despair,
Believing that goodness was always there.
Seeking to find a better, productive way,
Never allowing their faith to go astray.
Wanting to be good influence to youth,
Trying to convince them of the truth.
Guiding them into right paths to travel,
Letting not their good deeds unravel.
Hoping for pretty rainbows after each rain,
Knowing there is good they all can gain.
Sharing wisdom to everyone they know,
Sowing good seeds before time to go.
