Cruel War

One special night is all we have
to build a dream together;
so cruel, this war...your orders came,
this night must last forever.

My love, my heart, my everything,
how can I watch you go?
You lie there, sleeping reslessly,
my heart has sunken low.

When morning comes, my darling,
please do not say goodbye.
Just hold me closely, tenderly,
say naught to make me cry.

No, please don't weep, my sweetheart,
just think of my return;
our two hearts focused on that day,
oh we've so much to learn.

The rooster crows, that vagabond,
our precious time to steal.
Just hold me close, my sweetest love,
for that , at least, is real.
