Humility Facility

Sitting here laughing quietly to myself
over the silly and insignificant things
that can set one off on a path that leads
him straight back to his starting point.

The main key on the key ring of life
is the one that opens your own beliefs.
Becoming overly concerned with the
opinions of others strangles you blue.

Grab your virtual bat, step to the plate,
have a few whacks, try to clear the fence.
Then settle in and swing for a base hit,
in many cases it’s remembered just as well.

When you’re susceptible to cranial swelling,
your hat no longer fits your enlarged melon.
Notch back that superior opinion of self,
write what you write, hoping for the best.

Free up what’s on your heart and mind,
some you’ll openly share, some you’ll hoard.
When done tinkering and editing you know
what your words were meant to convey.

When put in the public domain for perusal
you know that all receptors are not alike.
If the reader’s in tune, he’ll get your drift instantly,
others may be overwhelmed and move on.

۩

It’s no reflection on your ability to say your piece,
been doing it for years with moderate success.
Post your words for the entire world to readily see,
rest not on laurels but on the fact you did your best

There’s an old saw that sums it all up rather neatly,
Saying, “paper is more patient than man”, how true.
Once it’s committed to paper, time will tell the truth,
words well written do not diminish as they stew.

I write, you read, you write, I read and so on and so forth.
the trail leads in myriad directions all at once.
If I’m touched or just mildly amused, I leave my words
to let you know that your efforts were never a waste.
