Before Rising Sun
Before Rising Sun
Beyond velvet sky
Lies a truth, an honesty
Before rising sun
He walks the streets, searching. His denim clad dreams now tattered, faded, dirty, and stained. All tainted with learned depravity. His innocence now gone, having fled in his haste to manhood. He pleads. Begs to be heard, even noticed, in this cardboard existence he now claims as his house. His home.
Stars, disappearing
No wishes left to be made
Time bleeds to darkness
Only empty rooms greet him. His silent echoes bounce from walls which have heard it all before. His cries, meaningless prayers, are lost to the cacophony of bad choices. Sins and misery. Fire water promises and smoky hallucinations. Invisible women. Impossible dreams. Innocent tears of a man who still clings to the boy he once was. Gone into a world of lies and deceit. No one cares, he thinks. No one, not even the darkness, the sullen moods of night seem to take notice of his soul's demise. No, not even himself.
Before rising sun
Lies a truth, an honesty
Beyond velvet sky

~~note~~
I was given an assignment to write a haibun for this challenge, inspired by the song 'The House of the Rising Sun'. The 'assigner' shall remain namesless but I will tell you she likes the color green and adores lily pads (hugs to you, dear lady) I do hope I have done your assignment justice..)
