First and Last Country Barn Dance

All dressed up and ready to go
Where to, she didn't really know.
Only four years old, but she knew,
Something for fun they would do.

Arrived there, music was playing,
Couldn't understand the swaying.
Square dancing someone had said,
By a speaker they all were being led.

Wanna try this she thought to herself
Walked out prancing like a little elf.
Mother was embarrased, so was dad,
Soon she'd be punished for being bad.

People were laughing, asking for more,
Both her feet were hitting the floor.
This country barn dance sure was fun,
Didn't know so many she could stun.

Next time mom and dad went to a dance,
They said, 'you're not going, not a chance.'
They took her to grandma's house this time,
You'd have thought she'd committed a crime.

She cried and cried, she didn't want to stay
Why was she being treated this awful way?
Soon she forgot and enjoyed dolls and toys
Grandmother was filled with fun and joys.
