He is the Most Important One

Still talking about love as a child, your mother was unable to give,
Continue to hurt because your dad didn't build confidence to live.
Recalling incidences of failure to please them time and time again,
Wouldn't think this would still bother an 80+ year old man.

Your wife has tried to love you with all pleasantness she is able,
For many years she has tried to build your confidences stable.
Fighting in the war gave you self respect and feelings of worth,
For this was lacking in growing up since your birth.

She is glad she has been able to help you build self esteem,
Even though sometimes she thinks it's a bit to the extreme.
She hides the fact, she needed these things also from you
Looking up to you is what you wanted her to do.

You have tried hard to show how smart you really are,
She finds it amazing, and you're her bright shining star.
Her talents are low in importance compared to yours,
Hungry for approval but this fact she ignores.
