Get Rid Of The Advertisements

His Promises

I dreamed I went to heaven
but no mansion there was mine;
my task was but to worship
with the angels so divine.

I needed no fine palaces
nor streets all paved with gold
for I was in the choir
and we were singing songs of old.

Songs of wondrous harmony,
lyrics never heard,
and yet I understood them all,
every precious word.

I could not see the orchestra,
the violins, harps and flutes;
but surely I could hear their sounds
...even a couple of lutes.

I saw a million cattle
grazing many hills of green;
there was luxury abundant,
everything so sparkling clean.

More marvellous than anything,
my body was brand new;
I felt no pain yet I was dancing
up the hills to see the view.

The dream finished to find me
waking yawningly from sleep.
I will dream again the promises
which I know the Lord will keep.
