Give Me Maturity

The longer God permits me breathe His air,
more understanding I am also given.
I have known young love and, wanting to be fair...
give me maturity (may I be forgiv'n?).
To compare, Darling, love was ne'er so sweet;
thee and only thee hath loved me truly.
The 'young love' was long gone, I knew defeat,
more common were the tears which flowed now newly.
I met you in my daughter's big back yard;
have I a love so loyal now as you?
For so long we were friends; that wasn't hard,
both saw we had potential which just grew.
Are you as glad as I we two were daring?
Infinite the love we now are sharing.
