Rest Now Dad
Rest Now Dad
At last he’s gained his angel wings
With many others now he sings.
What is left is but a shell
Of which there’s many a tale to tell.
No doubt he was a mischievous youth
With tongue in cheek he’d tell half-truth
Purchasing currents for mum to bake
Raisins all eaten, never reaching the cake.
Sweeping Gwen off her feet
They danced to many an old-time beat,
Standing upon her toes...quite strong,
Never his fault when steps went wrong.
In his love we children shared
Never a doubt he really care
Love may not have been spoken loud
But yes he held us high and proud.
Through years he shared in joys and tears
The pain of death may have bought some fears
His battered body suffered many a test
Now at its last can get some rest.
So take this chance and rest in peace
Let all the torment pass and cease
Dance with the angels up above
And wait upon the one you love.
