Song of Scarlet Tanager

By the seaside where
Foxglove abide ...
Summer Tanagers sing
of waves lapping over
from the cliffs of Dover ...

My love and I lie under
a hope diamond sky
and never ask why
the sun smiles sweetly
or red tanagers fly by ...

As sunlight ripples on
green water serene
my true love doth breathe
Starfish lie on warm sand
sea breezes hold my hand ...

Butterflies of violet and gold
kiss my heart and soul
as white clouds form shapes
of many precious heartaches
keeping love's memories near ...

On the Mango horizon lie
the future dreams in
romantic interludes of
Tanagers flying Tangos
in coral-shaped flamingos

dedicated to the romantic heart of
Katherine Chandler
Starlite's sweetheart
