question unanswered

He was a
young man
like this
background
view.
There is no
coming back
from the dead,
and so why
do some think
there is a way
beyond the
grave
like Houdini
thought,
and maybe
thoughts
of reincarnation?
Many years ago
when he was
alive and well,
he said, 'I would
like to die
to see what's
on the other side
of the veil
where loved ones
dwell.'
I was surprised
and mystified
when he said
what he thought,
and ought
to be thankful
for life itself,
for in my mind
it was priceless,
but nevertheless
I found myself
at his graveside
funeral
about eight years
later in time,
as there he lay
at peace
with his horn
rimmed glasses
on his brow.
He was only
thirty six,
and it made
me sick
to see him so
upon the other
side of life
as recalled
what was said
'n kept
inside this head.
Whiskey and
Heroin
had done
the trick
at thirty six,
and nowhere
to go
but stay asleep
as many
weeped
and moaned
aloud
within the
group
as wind
would blow~~~~
'n rock the
coffin so
above the
opening
in the cold
cold ground,
and no
coming back,
but in the
minds
of those
remained
engrained
of tragedy,
and why
did he want
to die
so young?
I will
never know
the answer?
