The Painting

In awe, I lift my gaze to follow the moon.
It screams across the velvet meadow of the sea.
Black horizons..they jut upward where land begins.
The sea leaves dappled pools of moonlight there.
Little villages cling together. Safe beyond waltzing stars.
Battered ships dot shoreline. Spiders scuttle across the
sand. These are captured visions from the past. Images
frozen within hourglass of time

A long way from home
Study in blue..treasured
Bring dreams to life

Full moon on black ripples water. Drung of glitter
near the shoals. Mediterrain colors kissed on stones.
Shades of nature landwash never knew. Clumps of
waterlogged marshgrass on cliffs near bay. Wildflowers
struggling to survive. Bundled together look like errant
twinkling stars. Sustance for soul.

Artistic fingers
Painted haunting shadows of time
Etching old yesterdays

High above seabirds wheel and cry. Rotten fences
sag from wind. Look like missing teeth from childs mouth
Northern lights playing tag with iceburgs. Dear familar
scenes of home. Beautifully excuted. Artistic renderings on
once blank canvas. Priceless gifts. Trapped in peeling gilt frames.
Hung on walls of silence. Marred only by cobwebs and the tracks
of my lonely tears
