Forget Me Not

Forget Me Not

rachael preeya photography

A cemetery is a well kept home
for those still mourned
in the hearts of the living

colorful pinwheels are planted
and tiny teddy bears propped

fresh flowers will replace
the stems consumed by winds
or wandering in deer

while the graves of the long dead
stand neglected, like the one
I saw the other day, undecorated

but for a blue flower in granite
carved next to her name
with a haunting plea...

“forget-me-not”
