Paving The Way

Paving The Way

From the yesterdays so bleak and desperate,
I have paved my way to a tomorrow
That is void of darkness and the desolate
Shadows that edge the truth of sorrow.
My tears have watered every day, each thought,
Easing the cracked sting of drought
That had plagued my life, a stain it brought
To the happiness I'd lived without.
I was never really sure that one day I could
See this light ahead... and oh it is good!

written for the Five & Dime Challenge
words to be used: drought, desperate,
desolate, really, tomorrow
