poetry readings

Did you know
that Lincoln
was a poet?
Started writing
poetry in 1991,
and then at the
top of the
staircase,
gave my first
reading
to the in laws,
who just stood
there with their
mouths open
looking bewildered
with non
comprehension
with my way
in words
heard
for a few
disappointing
moments,
as found out
that most good
people do not
appreciate
the verbal
vociferatiion
even though
I now know
it takes one
with the heart
of an artist
to listen in,
and that's
a fact.
My second
reading
in 2008
was at a
prominent
womans club
at Bear Valley
Springs,
and that went
much better,
but not
perfect either,
for only a
small
percent of
people are of
the artistically
inclined,
it comes
to mind.
The written
word
is so powerful,
but only
appreciated
with those that
perceive,
and are
willing to
receive
art within
written or
verbal form.
