If I could make a wish, sweetheart,
And know it would come true…
I’d wish the best life has to give
Would always, come to you.
I’d wish you summer sun to warm
So you might see its light
And silver stars on ebon skies
Bejeweling moonlit nights.
I’d wish you mountains you could climb
Both in you world and in your mind,
I’d wish you rains, so you could know
The rainbows that it leaves behind.
I’d wish you peace to contemplate
The tempest that is all around
I’d wish you space to realize
The melody of natures sound.
I’d wish you wealth so you could see
The grandeur in our troubled world.
I’d wish you pride, so you might feel
The magic when the flags unfurled.
I’d wish you faith, so you might trust
In what men cannot see
I’d wish you love, so you could share
Yourself, with destiny.
I’d wish these things with all my heart
Each hope you have, realized
Each dream you dare to dream, fulfilled
And joy in your eyes.
I’d wish you every happiness
That you aspire to,
With all my heart, my precious child
I wish life’s best to you!!!
