Beliefs

Beliefs

As years have passed and life's truths were spoken
I have tried to live within my beliefs,
But always leaving mind's curtain open
So conviction would not be named a thief.
I have held fast to my honesty's flame,
An honesty to life and journeys' past,
A respect for ideals that others claim,
And to traveled paths and their footsteps cast.
For I would ask the same, to understand
Different views and difference in thought
Does not proclaim nor should it then demand
Agreement's oath or validation sought.
Looking back to where I've been, I believe
I have followed this path of truith conceived.
