'The Cat Who Grinned'
He smiles when he's asleep
and grins when he's awake
hey you! The squirrel chattered restlessly!
Stop grinning for heaven's sake!
No one will take you seriously
if you always have a grin!
They'll think you're up to mischief,
or guilty of some catly sin!
And the dog watched casually
head turned and one ear cocked.
Amazed at the grinning feline,
whose path he had just crossed.
Now what's that cat been doing
that has him grinning so?
I know he's up to something
just what, I'd like to know!
The cat had a lovely mistress
who always brought him treats,
and toys and things to play with,
along with deli meats.
What cat wouldn't grin with pleasure
with a mistress who was so sweet;
who always gave him the best of care,
and brought him the neatest treats!
