Gift of Light
Today I woke up and soaked in the sights
Just seven years ago I could not see
Looking up into the sunshiny blue sky
Thankful for the gift of sight you gave to me
All the wonders I have been able to discover
Visions so exquisite have danced within my gaze
Every breathtaking moment of picturesque beauty
Because of you, each day, I am miraculously amazed
With such gratitude the world is brand new
Brighter, bolder, more beautiful than ever before
Magic and mystery in the simplest sights I see
Thank you is hardly enough for all you restored
Always I imagine what wonders we have seen
Before you left this world late that July
What inspired you, what visions made you smile
Before you were granted angel wings to fly
This past year I was reminded how it would be
Without this precious gift you have given me
We made it through the struggle and again we see
Making me even more grateful for your gift to me
Through this perfect window of amazing clarity
I have witnessed miracles I once feared I’d never see
Celebrating sights of yesterday, today and those yet to be
Carrying on your life through many visions left to see
I cherish this vision and the memory of your life
I hope and pray you can see my gratitude in every sight
Every picture a dedication in honor of your memory
Every tear filled with gratitude for your gift of light

In dedication, to my Cornea Donor on this the 7th Anniversary of my cornea transplant. Without this selfless gift of sight my world would be a very blurry and indistinct place, instead it is vibrant, vivid and incredibly gorgeous! When I think of all I would not have seen my heart is inexplicably filled with gratitude. In honor of my Donor please take a moment today to take in the beautiful sights all around you and say a prayer for my Donor and their family. I am incredibly blessed and <3 FOREVER GRATEFUL! <3
