THROUGH CHAOS AND CONFUSION
Lord, we’re in a world of trouble
and oh, how we need you
to ease our grief and light the darkness
and guide our footsteps through
this world caught up in chaos,
no longer knowing right from wrong,
but in you is strength and courage,
peace, joy, good health and song
and through you we’ll find the pathway
to get home where we belong.
Help us through this, Lord, our troubles,
we don’t know what to do,
which way to turn, the way to go
but we place our faith, all hope in you
and know the price of our iniquity, our shame
is long past over due
as we’ve turned our backs, ignored your words
your gift of life and light and truth.
All this darkness, fear, the lies, the pain
are overwhelming Lord, profound
while we’re being fed on lies, fake promises
that only let us down.
This world is broken Lord, and crumbling,
with confusion, suffering all around
and it seems no matter where we turn
in this world no safe place can be found.
This world is dancing with the devil.
We’re the sum of Satan’s quest
as he warps governments and peoples
while he’s feathering his nest
and feeding us despair and pain;
oh Lord, how much we need your light
to guide us and to comfort us
and set us on the path that’s right;
to help us know and understand,
to ease our doubts and fears,
to show us how to make it through;
Lord, please get us out of here.
We’re trapped in a web of worldly woes
and we’re all about to die
because we’ve trusted in the silver tongue,
like the spider to the fly,
lured by worldly promises
that are all based on greed and lust and lies…
But Lord, you are our salvation,
our way out of this mess we’ve made.
If we’ll just trust and follow you,
we need not be afraid.
Your ways are right and just and good.
You are our strength, our hope, our song.
You are the gate that brings us home,
the path that leads us from all wrong,
out of the temptations of this dying world
where days is darker than the night,
where everything gets twisted,
right seems wrong and wrong seems right
as we stumble ‘round in darkness;
Oh Lord, how much we need your light.
You are the life, light, truth and way.
Help us keep our hearts and eyes on you,
help us to follow as you lead,
Lord, help us to get through.
Lift us up, direct our path
through all this push and shove
and may we each accept and know
your all abiding love
so freely given,
dear Lord, on that cross,
to die and live for our sake, Lord,
that all may not be lost.
Thank you Lord, for all your blessings,
for all Lord, that you give
so we who will may come to you
and in you Lord, we may live.
Help us to trust and follow you,
oh Lord, we need you so,
light our path, show us the way
that you would have us go.
Fill us with strength and courage
to get through all we must face
and help us walk the path you lead
to get us out of this place.
Shed your wondrous light upon us,
your mercy, love and grace.
Thank you for all you are, dear Lord.
We can’t make it without you.
Grant us the faith to hold our trust,
Lord, help us to get through.
