It Rained

Noah, by the grace of God,
led his family to the ark
along with two of every kind;
straight away the sky grew dark.

It rained; but not in cats and dogs
for they were safe aboard.
All upon the ark were safe,
courtesy of the Lord.

Faith, hope and love saw Noah through
all forty days and nights.
Each day he sought the face of God
who'd put the world to rights.

Rain did stop and flood subsided
but where they sat looked a bog.
'I'll send a dove, ' Noah decided
though son Ham wanted to send a frog.

Back came the dove with an olive branch,
'I reckon it's safe!' yelled Noah.
One of his sons established a ranch,
same mountain but a wee bit lower.

As the animals moved off from the ark,
the rainbow of promise appeared.
God explained this vision was His mark
another flood should never be feared.

Old Noah lived on for many years
and his off-spring covered the world.
We remember God's promise to all mankind
when His rainbow banner's unfurled.
