Charleston Twilight

Charleston: Vignettes of Twilight

photography by natural reality

Twilight and Meeting Street.
Little golden baskets of sweetgrass.
Gullah women, weary-eyed under
beautiful headdress, collect their
wares along a ribbon of cobblestone.

Twilight and Market Street.
Pastries, peanut brittle and coffee.
Last chance bargaining. Dessert
and evening paper by a palm breeze.

Twilight and East Bay Street.
Rainbow row houses in dusty hues.
Disabled artillery line the seawall
aimed at passive waters, pearl blue.

Twilight tours, tired feet, smiles.
Gaslight and ghost walks, smiles.
Carriage ride. Mossy lanes. Home.
The creak and clang of wrought iron.
