The 'Last Curtain Call'

As we approach, our first day of school,
I often reflect on that “Golden Rule”.
To do onto others, as you would have done
Is more than a phrase we mimic for fun.
For of all the lessons we teach
to our students this year,
It’s the one they need to see,
it’s implications, quite clear.
You see,
Teaching’s been my passion,
there were seeds that I sowed,
but now I am facing the end of my road.
For Monday will be, my last first day of school,
One less senior to add, to our teaching gene pool. (smile)
I will treasure each day that I walk these proud halls,
And always remember, my “last curtain call.”
