Gone fishing

Gone fishing

She's in no hurry, she's going fishing today
Gather her cubs; soon, they'll be on their way
Meandering along, to her favorite fishing hole
Her biggest worry, is of the little ones in tow
She keeps a sharp eye, for all the dangers abound
Especially if there's another bigger male around

She hears the whispers of the rivers lullaby
Ever vigilant, keeping her little ones close by
She'll look all around, for that just right spot
To teach her cubs how Silver Coho's are caught
The little ones are playful, and oh so curious
As they roll and tumble creating quite the fuss

Knee deep in the river, she's fishing all alone
In the cool of the rapids, she's right at home
Waiting patiently, quickly, she cast her bait
Another Big Silver Coho, rapidly meets its fate
She ambles slowly, taking her catch, to higher ground
She'll share with her cubs the abundant bounty found

She'll repeat this process all throughout her day
Until each are filled, and in the sun they'll lay
She'll gather them up and homeward they'll go
With their tiny bellies all swollen and round,
From all the Cohos each quickly gulped down
If a bear could laugh, I'd swear, I heard her softly chuckle
As the cubs little heads bobbled, falling asleep as they suckle
