Love Messages

My darling love
spells out for me,
his heart,
in sweet bouquets.
He has only halting English
but oh so many other ways.

Just beneath my office window
where bright-faced pansies dance
he has planted cinerarias
to assail my eyes,
first glance.

And the creamy rich gardenia,
with leaves glossy dark green
wafts its heady perfume to me
through a well kept insect screen.

Sweet peas on the back fence
at the very end of season,
deliver fragrance delicate
'cause they can...sufficient reason.

His gorgeous floral love notes,
be they bud or bloom or petal
will suffice to tide me over
'til two hearts together settle.
