Big Waves and Little Waves

Great, white-capped ocean giants
roar and writhe and swell;
they've practised now for centuries,
performing very well.

Syncopated, they sweep back,
tippy-toe with chests puffed out,
then fling themselves enmasse shoreward,
with a loud, triumphant shout.

Exhausted...bubbles fluff and froth
laughing in shallows with glee,
'ere heading back towards the depths
to play once more with me.
