Get Rid Of The Advertisements

When The Night Falls

There’s a thunderstorm written across the sky
         in sepia ink
as if the clouds are on sensory overload
                 just like my heart
shadows seem to ask questions
as palm fronds race down the street
                 carried by braids of wind
         just like my brain
with the sage brush of worry rolling through
I will swim through this day
though no lifeguards are in sight
knowing the stars will sparkle
                 down trails of tranquility
         when the night falls
