Ode to Spring
Old Man Winter’s weary |
And needs to take a rest.
Sunbeams warm and melt the snow
On Mother Earth’s sweet breast.
Youthful, energetic Spring
Awakes the sleepy ground
Soon seeds will sprout to flowers
And green grass will abound.
Delicate blossoms of pink and white
As drifting in the gentle breeze
Confetti fills the air.
Soon leaves burst forth from brown buds
To shades of yellow green
And all the world about us
Is the softest pastel scene.
The birds are singing in the trees
The bees flit to and fro
The charm of love has touched all
Wherever we may go.
Rainfall patters out her songs
And night time sends us dew
It nourishes the driest soil
And make all things, anew.
The graceful vines climb arbors
And fences, posts, and trees
And soon bear flowers of their own
That tremble in the breeze.
And as each day is put to bed
With the setting of the sun.
Young lovers walk o’er dusky paths
As Twilight has begun.
Then moonlight casts her shadows
On everything we see
And we imagine futures blessed
And all that We shall be.
