THE DEVIL HELD HIS HAND

He had the face of an angel
With hair like golden sand
His crooked smile would fool the stars
But the devil held his hand

She was sweet and innocent
A lass of just sixteen
She didn’t know he’d break her heart
Or that he was cruel and mean

He told her she was all he’d need
To make his life complete
As she surrendered to his lies
Her young heart missed a beat

But all her days were lonely then
He never called again
Tears never healed her broken heart
All she could feel was pain

So one sad day from a cliff so high
She took one final leap
To a land where devils never roam
Of everlasting sleep

He had the face of an angel
With hair like golden sand
His crooked smile would fool the stars
But the devil held his hand
