After The Horrors
The smart ones tried to tell us It could end like this
But we were to sure of ourselves to listen
Now ... beyond the horrors I've endured
I wander, aimless and alone..reason gone
heart cold as stone... all my beliefs shattered
For now.. this is a bitter earth, all that remains
this fragile shell, almost devoid of life.. torn apart,
reeking dead piled everywhere
Scorched earth, smoldering from the scars of war
fought badly but to well
Promises of tomorrow , all gone. denied by
users up'... by mortal greed , by idle speeches
disagreements in high places and the technicalities..
Multicolored dreams of madmen... So sad, so pointless
Still I survived!
Now, I need something to warm the heart of me...
seeker of life.. some small token to clasp against
my hungry heart.. an edge against the darkness
Surely, somewhere children laugh in the clarity of youth,
somewhere birds sing and waves caress sunlit shores
Indeed soft trade winds blow and the sun still rises.
Somewhere life begins and ends in the true order
of things and houses still have lights that spill out
a welcome mid the darkness calling come home
Where all is not lost..
But not in this world... My world...not now
The future is unseen .. unknown , my only salvation..
I, child of war ... seek sanity, order and hope!
For the urge to live is strong and I simply must
find the place where life begins again..
Beyond the horrors I've endured...
anywhere out there... But where?
... I can only imagine!...
