Get Rid Of The Advertisements

Katrina Revsited

Eight years ago America was bleeding from
a big hole in her heart. The storm they called Katrina
just ripped her queen apart

She roared across the ocean,, burst wild upon the land
leaving massive desperation that we could not understand
She decimated families , their homes she blew away
Left New Orleans people hungry. without a place to stay

She separated loved ones, pitted nature against man
Levies weakened by the ages meant New Orleans could not stand
She wrenched apart a city well beloved by one and all
As America watched helpless. we watched proud Orleans fall

We watched people cling to rooftop underneath the troubled sky
We watched as their possessions in back water floated by
Saw them tired and weak and helpless, as old death knocked their door
As our hearts recoiled in horror surely they could take no more

Finally devestation over ... once more quiet claimed the land
Everybody came together to assist their fellowmen
Helped to clothe them, helped to feed them .. patching broken hearts
Young or old ... it didn't matter everybody did their part

Now eight years have passed .. She's mended, she has come alive again
Fish are back there in the bayous..Madre Gras occurs again
And delighted by the music that has kept New Orleans strong
We have joined our hearts and voices in a national sing along
