I Was Loved

The day you told me of your love, I wept.
Only dreams had touched me...this heart slept.
Dream I now in silver moonlight's glow
that we two might, through life, together go.
Mattered not my path as it had shady been?
Had all that been erased, the slate washed clean?
Come, lead me not just now a fool's gold path...
true love might be the final aftermath.
In hope I'm holding on with expectation.,
this path I'll choose, no sign of hesitation.
Life, though filled with ample serves of strife,
I gladly sample, hereon as your wife.
Was e'er a woman joyful more than this,
loved by the one who'll lead her on to bliss?
By all that lives and breathes, I will be true,
you have inspired in me a hope in you.
