Come, Sit, Ye Weary Traveler
Sit, Ye weary traveler.
Thou hast neared the end
Of that long, long road,
And thus, have earned your rest.
Your feet have rambled long enough
Upon these twisted sidewalks of time,
And with each new journey
You’ve endured another test
Can you hear it, hon?
That tiny little whisper
That falls soft, like butterfly
Wings in flight
As it bids you to fly off,
Into the comfort of the welcoming night?
Rest here, in this moment of your silence, precious one,
You have sang your ageless melodies,
Your stories have been well told,
And your earthly struggles here on earth
Are now nearly done.
Could this be the time for the closing of your yesterdays?
A time for letting go of tears?
A time for goodbyes?
A time for moving on…?
So I bid you now to rest, and be still...
And listen for those poet’s voices
That have traveled far,
And from beyond,
And listen to their song
It was always interesting, wasn't it?
And you’ll have to admit, dear friend,
It has always been
One 'hell' of a ride.
(I can just hear you chuckle, as I say that)
Just remember, always,
How very much you are loved.
This poem was originally started for Dante's All Star Phrase 'Like Butterfly Wings In Flight', but for reasons of my own, was not posted in time. It is now entered into Sundropmom's All Star Challenge, using her phrase 'Far and From Beyond'.
