Just To Be A Kid

A Summers Day as a kid in Michigan
In my memory plays
Twas fun and good times I had
On those hot and humid days

Running through the sprinkler
Eating hot dogs dad cooked upon the grill
Climbing sand dunes at the big lake
Was an overwhelming thrill

Round 2 p.m. kids could be seen
Near to the curb pon city street
As we'd eagerly await the music
From the ice cream truck we'd greet

And each July was a very special time
The arrival of the Seaway festival
Summertime as a kid
Was anything but dull

Ferris wheel and Tilt A Whirl
Screaming out in glee
Freshly squeezed lemonade
Or moms home brewed ice cold tea

And now I await my great grand kids
Doing quite the same as what I did
Hear them laugh and have a blast
Just to be kid
