Get Rid Of The Advertisements

Heart Torn

I well remember that awful day
when fate raised it's dreadful hand
A telephone call is all it took
to make me too weak to stand

We'll never know how it happened
He was only driving to work
when the car just spun out of control
and in a second he left this earth

I remember the tear filled anguish
when you told me the dreadful news
The phone almost fell right out of my hand
couldn't take it my brain refused

My heart tore in pieces when I realized
I would never again see the face,
know the smiles and love of my grandson
He was lost to us in some other place

I wanted to comfort you my son
but didn't know just what to say
I felt so inadequate, out of my depth
I cried when you said 'stay away'

So 'cause of words said in anger
and bitterness deep in your heart
You turned away from your family
and now we are eons apart

I must believe in the impossible
that we can talk as we used to do
and end this heart rending conflict
Because my son, I dearly love you.
