Drought and Dry
Drought and Dry
I find my heart
I need tears of joy
to pat down, the memory of
holding hands, the going off together, the chicken, the salad the ketchup please pass
the salt that has accumulated, the pepper is in the saltshaker
the lemon scents
the bitter lime
the harmony of all time
has lost the wetness of delight
the wine and ice combined in bucket
empty now, the drought
has filled the emptiness
the memory is now alive with each and every tear in my heart
but no more drought even though the rain has gone
it is here in my heart,
the rain will come
perhaps too late,
we pray the rain will come and with the rain
the earth sweet smell of earth, wet, now fertile, now the tears of contentment.
