One Timid Step
One Timid Step|
I hear you when winds blow, breathing low,
And the breeze, it carries your distant plea,
Beckons me onward, begging me follow,
With words that breathe life into me.
But can I trust and seek those dreams not swept
By bristled truth, or will I be deceived?
I feel you near and take but one timid step
For I am unsure of what I should believe.
Would you forsake me with deceitful ploy,
Or abandon me and my doubts dismiss?
Would you cause me harm, or will you destroy
The hope heard whispered and softly promised?
Faith, when winds blow, breathing low, I hear your plea
But do you know how much you ask of me?
Yet, I spill my heart into your offered hand...
And pray you will help me to understand.
This is a very old poem that I have revised over and over again. I have always felt something was missing until.... I got Ann's phrase. Her phrase filled that missing piece and inspired me to rewrite one more time. Thank you Ann for this much needed inspiration!
