Oh Maiden Fair

Oh, please give me a taste of the love on your lips.
I have been held at arms length for far too long.
Like long suffering sailors' wives waiting for ships
to safely navigate past the sirens' magnetic song.

Had you looked in my eyes you'd have seen my heart,
one so desirous, full of plaintive aching for you.
Were this a romantic play I'd have perfected my part
long before the curtain would rise for Act Two.

One kiss from your lips, I beseech thee oh maiden fair,
may open floodgates, love no woman's known.
Put your hand to my chest and feel the beating there
for that's where my unrequited desire has grown.

Allow me to offer my arm, safe passage through life,
where we'll share aspirations and our dreams.
Do picture yourself as my partner, my lover and wife
navigating jointly down contentment streams.
