Crystalline Tears

Crystalline Tears

Yonder Moon, you weep
your crystalline tears
into the velvet mist embracing the night,
Gauzy veils hide your sadness,
shielding your vulnerability
as the universe observes your nakedness.
The faces you show lend themselves
more to your mystery
than to our determined enlightenment.
You, sister of the sun, rule your domain
in silence and cool serenity,
commanding oceans to do your will.
Yet, a shyness that often transcends
your power endears you to mankind's imagination.
For as you fade into the dawn
you bid a whispering farewell,
leaving a gentle promise of return
into dew-kissed mornings
shimmering in sunlight,
bathed in crystalline tears
wept into the velvet mist that is night.
