Acceptance

There was a retaining wall that dwelled around my soul
Until the vision of words finally spoke their truth
Disrobed, vulnerable, and unblemished, the ink spills
Unrestrained from within the security of an eager pen
Paused by bated breath, I exhale onto the waiting pages
No longer captive in a jail with walls around my heart
Emotions seep from a aching heart and a loving quill
Removing the irritating callous that's mask the hurt
Yes, it is possible to gather the shattered remains
To rebuild and hammer out my weaknesses for new growth
This journey is a difficult one but it's a journey I must accept

Through this journey of acceptance...

I must remember... my faults, my fears...
I must write... my heartaches, my pain...
I must admit... my weaknesses, my vulnerability

Perhaps It will be then I could be called... Poet
