she comes like a brick grenade
looting my soul, made off with the stereo
hard skip on these shattered streets
like her baby rain dance doesn't slack on the visual
and i, lost for words
floating on a river of no home to go to
tell her she's spectacular, she sets it softly aside
left my sight crashed out with her wander off lyrical
she comes, then she takes and leaves
like bare skin on steel, like her rhythmless laugh
she crush the sky with an unamused gaze
waiting for her face to fade from my fidgety sleep
i gotta get, get
gone but i'm directionless
staring at streetlights from passenger windows
i sing my shiny new song but sit irrelevant
longways across the parquet
always unmentioned and still overplayed
and life was beautiful
used to be high art, now it's a sketchpad mural
used to be shared, now it's keeping secrets
right on
right on, her
her colder sway to the seamless beats
it's funny what amazes when you can't catch your breath
she kicked the scar and found another ride back
i lost reality and it never missed me
she turns but what's left to feel?
looking toward Heaven but the sun burns my eyes
it's not much more than a halfhearted escape
we live and die in the harsher embraces
