Where Truth Is Found

My friend Jane, wasn't very pretty
She wasn't smart, she wasn't witty
I'd call her plain if not such a pity
When Jane was born it was said
The doctor placed her in the bed
Then knelt down, bowed his head
And sent a prayer for her parents instead
Her mommy didn't care about her looks
Or that her ugly made the Guinness book
Jane was the twinkle in her rye
Mommy never saw her with a sober eye
And daddy, well he was busy making money
Jane's future to secure, she was his prized honey
It mattered not one whit I swear
That daddy was a billionaire
'Cause he taught her to be kind
And by good deeds be defined
The years went by, Jane grew up
Found herself a handsome pup
Grown up Jane, her looks let's say
Just as bad as on her birthing day
The stars didn't shine on this unlikely pair
Friends said, look within yourself, the truth lies there
He saw beyond shallowness of looks and understood
Love's value is measured in the heart; Jane's was good
