WAR

War is such a killing affair.
Many flee with fearful dread
With the hope of breathing freedom's air
War is such a killing affair.
You can see so many have fallen where
They have bled and the ground seeps red
War is such a killing affair
Many flee with fearful dread

Truth is a casualty
With war there are many more
Consequences including secrecy
Truth is only one casualty
No government accountability
Lies take flight from shore to shore
Truth is just one casualty
With war there are many more

There is no escape
From the ravages of war
Cluster bombs blackened landscapes
Alas there is no escape
There is nothing that can replace
All that has left those scars
Alas there is no escape
from the ravages of war

Beware the person with a conscience
S/he will be branded with high treason
If allowed to take an anti-stance
Beware the person with a conscience
All will be done in the way of defense
Just one more war consequence
No protest allowed even with good reason
Beware the person with a conscience
S/he will be branded with high treason

There is no saving grace
From memories that recall
All the killings that take place
There is no saving grace
For all the cities displaced
There is nothing that can enthrall
There is no saving grace
From memories that recall
