Get Rid Of The Advertisements

Hard Lessons

I watch the dance of huge dark clouds on high
And note the bashful sun to hiding flew
When snowflakes one by one came flying by
My mood now chilled a distant shade of blue

I haven't had my breakfast tea today,
or gotten dressed; really now I'm not depressed
That idea condemned. I've not lost my way
But this day is surely one sent to test

Read along and mark this thought; she's not lost
her mind. Though subdued, it's still intact
Despite affronts that came with heavy cost
The mature response for days off track

As I review these lines that I have penned
They talk to me of other slights I've known
Those I'd push aside, allow hurt feelings mend
Despite the seeds of anger surely sown

Are secret metaphors reward enough
Since stunning lines continue to evade
I'll swallow my pride, accept the rebuff
Give the good book another look, be brave
