A Trip to New York City

A red plaid houndstooth scarf around my neck
and all decked out with a cute hat to match
walking around this really big city
Tried to hail a cab and thought 'what the heck'
the subway, it might be the best to catch
no one to share this fun, such a pity

Still I did go to Central Park today
sat on a bench watching people go by
I doubt anyone even noticed me
So many children laughing as they play
A 'lil girl fell down but she didn't cry
being so small, how amazing was she

First thing in the morn, catch the bus, go home
back to fresh country air and skies of blue
perhaps if I look back I'll shed a tear
Tonight though it will be Times Square I roam
I may even meet somebody there too
and we'll kiss at midnight, Happy New Year!
