Get Rid Of The Advertisements

Raillery or Not

Some 'friends' assume this my pose
That I bang on, sounding quite boorish
humbug, that opinion is loutish
one those 'friends' should abolish
I'll settle for not caring I suppose

I no longer shop in a great big store
'cause walking makes my knees very sore
I admit it! I love fried chicken
and do my taxes using Quicken
Using my brain is simply a chore

From recent photos, it sure appears
I'm much less the rose, proof in the years
At least i'm not a toad quite yet
I'll settle for that, you can bet
and not be close to shedding tears.

Napkins of linen that's not my thing
No rings of silver, too much bling
Are you laughing at these admissions
Have you formed presuppositions
Should you believe all that I sing

Should I toss water on this parade
Darlings, you know I enjoy a joke
You decide, am I just blowing smoke
On my own words am I bound to choke
Are all these confessions my charade
