Cares Will Keep

The night was full and long, an now the sun begins to rise.
This is when challenges arise, as I begin to close my eyes.
The faces, the places, the deeds, all recalled all replayed.
Each action each reaction, carefully arrayed and displayed.

It's two tours, two tours in one, the scrutiny's never done.
There's by the book and by the street, right way, who won.
Binder to binder, street to street, reconciliation a place to meet.
All considered, adjudicated each, letter and spirit tough to beat.

Yet from the outside, looking in with chagrin.
Change a good outcome with their own special spin.
For no news ain't good news when it's bad news you need.
So they'll change substance and facts, and off lies they feed.

There-in my challenge, do my job, do it right.
Onward and upward to fight the good fight.
So put cares to rest as I put me to sleep.
There's time in the morrow, those cares will keep.
